Luisa de Marillac, a girl who grew up as an illegitimate child in a troubled world, in spite of which she found strength to dedicate her life to God by caring for the poor and abandoned, co-founding the Daughters and Ladies of Charity After her death she was beatified, canonized, and proclaimed as universal Patron of Social Workers
